Equipped with RSW capacity and able to operate without the need for a skiff to deploy its purse seine gear, former Norwegian pelagic vessel Adriana represents a new level of fishing technology for the Peruvian pelagic fleet.
Following a 42-day delivery trip, Adriana docked in Peru. The vessel represents a $10 million investment and it will operate on anchovy as its primary fishery, with options for other target species. This brings the Austral Group fleet up to 19 vessels, of which 14 operate with RSW systems.
‘We are very proud to add this vessel to our fleet. Adriana represents a further step in our commitment to responsible, efficient and safe fishing. This strengthens our capacity and reaffirms out commitment to technological development and environmental stewardship,’ said Adriana Giudice, general manager of Peruvian company Austral Group, a subsidiary of Austevoll Seafood in Norway.
The 49.90-metre Adriana has a beam of 10.98 meters and a 508 cubic metre tank capacity. It was previously Grimsholm, operated since 2016 by owners in the north of Norway who have subsequently invested in a larger vessel. Adriana was built by West Contractors in 1998 and was originally Swedish before being acquired by Norwegian owners.
