When the world’s fishing industry gathers for DanFish International 2025 at Aalborg Congress & Culture Center (AKKC), exhibitors and visitors can look forward to an experience that’s out of the ordinary.
A dedicated Greenland pavilion that combines history, culture, taste experiences, sustainability and technology – providing an authentic insight into life and fishing in Greenland – is a centrepiece of this year’s Danfish International in Aalborg.
For generations, fishing and hunting have been at the core of Greenlandic communities, along with a deep understanding of nature, technology and sustainability. Fishing has not only been a way of life, but has also shaped the culture and living conditions in local communities. Today, Greenland is a frontrunner in modern fishing and innovation, and it is precisely this unique combination of experience and know-how that visitors can experience in Hall F/Fundamentet at DanFish International 2025.
Eight Greenlandic exhibitors are ready to share their knowledge and experiences with Greenlandic fishing. Among them are the Department of Fisheries and Hunting, KONFIFA – the consultancy service for fishermen and hunters, KNAPK – the Fishermen and Hunters Association in Greenland, the National Telecom Agency, Tusass, Qalut Vonin, Royal Arctic and Avannaata Kommunia.
‘Greenland combines tradition with innovation in an impressive way. That’s why we’re looking forward to showing how Greenland’s culture and innovation come together in one area. Our goal is for guests to get an authentic impression of the country,’ said Lasse Holsteen Jessen, expo sales manager at AKKC.
Interactive QR codes open up knowledge about Greenland’s sustainable fishing, technology and culture, while the area’s exhibition tells the history of fishing and hunting culture over the past hundred years. At the same time, authentic Greenlandic delicacies are offered, which bring the raw nature of the Arctic directly to Aalborg – and visitors can then buy a little piece of Greenland to take home as a souvenir.
