Norwegian naval architect Skipsteknisk AS has secured the design contract for a new arctic factory freezer trawler for owners in Greenland, with the new trawler to be built at the Metalships & Docks yard in Spain.

Two Rolls-Royce-designed stern trawlers have contracted to be built by the Freire Shipyard in Spain for Greenland companies Qajaq Trawl and the other by Polar Seafood.

Icelandic fishing gear supplier Ísfell has been supplying Mustad Autoline systems to Greenland this year, since taking over the dealership for Mustad last year.

A trawl supplied by Russian fishing gear manufacturer Fishering Service (FS) has helped Greenland pelagic vessel Polar Amaroq break its own records this summer.

This week an international group of scientists arrive in Greenland to examine the sustainability of Greenland’s halibut fishery. The assessment is part of the MSC certification process for the fishery and the Greenland hopes to be MSC certified in early 2017.
