New pelagic vessel Høgaberg isn’t going straight home to the Faroe Islands following the handover to owners Framherji. Handed over by the Karstensen yard, Høgaberg has gone straight to fishing grounds in Faroese waters for a first trip on blue whiting before making its first call in the Faroes.

Veteran skipper Høgni Hansen is in the wheelhouse for this first trip for the new pelagic vessel that was initially scheduled to be delivered to Framherji last summer. Høgaberg comes with a reported price tag of around DKK340 million.
Høgaberg has an overall length of 88 metres and a moulded breadth of 16.50 metres, with a 3400 cubic metre capacity in its RSW tanks. A Karstensen design, Høgaberg is powered by a pair of 3600kW 6L33:45 Bergen engines, with a Kongsberg reduction gear and 4500mm diameter propeller. Additional power is provided by Caterpillar 3512 and C32 auxiliaries and there are two Marelli 2300kW shaft alternators.
Accommodation on board is for a crew of up to 20.
The electric winches are supplied by Evotec and the cranes are from SeaQuest Systems. The RSW system is a tripe 1300kW FrioNordica system, and the vacuum pump installation is from C-Flow.
