As French tuna operator CFTO finalises the sale of three purse seiners, Drennec, Glenan and Trevigon, to Omani company Rawanq Al Salam International, it has also embarked on a new strategic agreement marking a new phase in its development.

CFTO will continue to manage the vessels, from fishing to product sales, thus guaranteeing continuity of operations, and will also take over the management of Adamas and Acila, the two modern tuna purse seiners built at Zamakona for Oman over the last two years.
‘This agreement reflects the recognition of CFTO’s expertise in the sustainable and efficient management of fishing activities,’ a CFTO representative commented. ‘This agreement, which responds to the difficulties encountered since 2020, places CFTO in a sustainable and innovative recovery dynamic. ’
According to CFTO, this strategy utilises tools such as real-time monitoring that optimise individual and collective objectives in terms of catches, fuel consumption and overall performance.
‘Despite the sale of the three purse seiners, CFTO is maintaining its workforce, as the crews of these vessels remain fully operational. In addition, the management of the two Omani purse seiners will entail the recruitment of additional officers and crew, strengthening CFTO’s presence in the sector,’ the company’s representative stated.
‘These agreements mark a decisive step in CFTO’s relaunch, confirming its ambition to overcome past difficulties and strengthen its position as a major player in tropical tuna fishing.’
