There were smiles all round as Musholm took over ownership of Lundby Fisk. The third generation family-run fish farming business in North Jutland now becomes part of something bigger with the acquisition by Musholm and its Løjstrup subsidiary.
Heidi and Peter Holm are the third generation in the company which started with Mølgård fish farm in 1961, and has since expanded to a total of four fish farms that have now been sold together to Musholm. Lundby Fisk has had a special focus on breeding trout and finding and motivating young people to train and work in fish farming.

These are some of the qualities that Musholm believes will strengthen the company’s ambitions to develop and expand the production of Danish trout on land-based facilities and on the open sea both in Denmark and in Japan.
‘Peter and Heidi have developed Lundby Fisk into a company with unique competencies in everything from technology, know-how and the human qualities necessary to breed good fish. I am delighted that their many years of work will now become part of the value chain at Musholm,’ says Niels Dalsgaard, CEO of Musholm A/S.
Peter Holm sees the agreement as a development and expansion of everything that Lundby Fisk can do, because it requires a strong organisation to make the good experiences valid under increased competition in a global export market. A consolidation in the industry is necessary to handle the tasks that are naturally associated with, for example, regulatory requirements and exports.
‘Lundby Fisk wants to be part of something bigger, and what we have built deserves to be seen, heard and make a difference,’ explained Peter Holm, who together with Heidi will continue to manage the fish farms.
Owned by a Japanese company Okamura Foods, Musholm currently has three sea farms in the Great Belt and operates several fish farms in Jutland through its Løjstrup subsidiary, of which Lundby Fisk now becomes a part. Musholm exports a large part of its production of farmed trout and roe to Europe and Southeast Asia.
