Icelandic boatbuilder Trefjar’s latest delivery is a Cleopatra 33 for Brett Newton, who will be working Maverick III year-round from Lyme Regis in the south of England.

Maverick III is outfitted for fishing crab, lobster and whelks, and is expected to easily handle 700 pots per day using the self-hauling/self-shooting system. A slave hauler is located on the back of the wheelhouse bulkhead to haul pots over the starboard gunwale.
The amidships fishroom has space for twelve 380-litre tubs and is designed to accommodate standard fish boxes to keep catches alive and in peak condition. A landing derrick is fitted for lifting catches ashore.
The boat is laid out with an aft engine room, with an FPT C90 main engine driving a ZF 286IV gearbox. The hydraulic bow thruster is linked to the autopilot to activate automatically when required.
The forward section has three bunks and a galley area below. The forward wheelhouse is laid out with the skipper’s control position on the starboard side, facing the Simrad and Hondex electronics and the Olex plotter. The port side of the wheelhouse is arranged with a seating area for the crew.
