Belgian fishing company Surcouf has placed an order with the Padmos yard in the Netherlands for a new multi-functional trawler to be delivered in 2027.
The new Shaun N-68 will measure 21 metres in length and is to be registered in Nieuwpoort, replacing Surcouf’s current 20-metre trawler.
The new trawler will have a 221kW Mitsubishi main engine, powering a 2300mm propeller.
This vessel is designed to be able to alternate a variety of fisheries, including shrimp, flatfish and squid.
It will have a net drum for deploying a single-rig trawl for squid fishing, as well as a beam trawl layout for targeting shrimp and flatfish.
Shaun is scheduled to be delivered in the second quarter of 2027.
