A pelagic vessel operating from the Russian Baltic enclave of Kaliningrad has been through a major overhaul, carried out by local company Adomat.
The refit included replacing Nikolay Nechay’s main engine, the bow has been reconfigured, the catch handling layout has been completely replaced and new superstructure with living and working spaced has been added. The trawl layout has been modernised and catches can be either lifted or pumped on board.
Nikolay Nechay is expected to have a fishing capacity of around 1000 tonnes per month.
The trawler is named after Nikolay Sergeevich Nechay, who sailed initially as a fishing skipper in Baltic waters before showing his skill as a distant waters fisherman in African and Atlantic fishing areas. In the 1990s he established fishing company Marfish in Kaliningrad and was one of the pioneers of building and modernising smaller fishing vessels.
