Holland’s only fishing industry trade fair, the Holland Fisheries Event scheduled for 3-4th October in Urk, has sold out the floor space of all four halls. Exhibitors from both the Netherlands and other countries have been keen to participate.
‘It’s remarkable that this year we have new and mostly international companies from India, Iceland, Norway, Italy, Denmark, Germany and Belgium that want to present themselves,’ an HFE representative said, commenting that the fishing industry in the Netherlands has been through a tough time over the last few years.
‘The fleet is recovering after restructuring, and is looking for new innovative ways to survive and exist. This is reflected in the requirements of both exhibitors and a full exhibition floor, as well as demand from visitors, all of which indicates a need to network.’
This year’s Holland Fisheries Event is not just the exhibition, but will also host a conference organised by the Dutch Fisheries Innovation Network (VIN).
On the second day of the fair, Friday afternoon 4th October, four partial sessions will be offered on a variety of topics – fishing without rules, a new vessel design, new and desirable subsidy schemes and the crew of the future.
De Wit Assurantiën; a family business based in Stellendam and specialising in risk management is proud to be the main sponsor of Holland Fisheries Event 2024 and is in the A pavilion together with entrepreneurs from the Maritime Cluster from Stellendam. Presenting themselves as Your Maritime One Stop Shop, these businesses are offering a complete package of shipbuilding, outfitting, refrigeration, marine coating, ship insulation, electrical engineering, networking and rigging on the exhibition floor.
The Holland Fisheries Event takes place at De Koningshof on Staartweg 20 in Urk. The exhibition floor will be open Thursday 3rd October from 1000 to 1800, and Friday 4th October from 1000 to 2000. Parking is free.
