French fishing company Sapmer, based in La Réunion, has entered into discussions to to transfer three tuna seiners to be managed by CFTO.
Talks are taking place between Sapmer and CFTO’s Dutch parent company P&P Thon for Bernica, Dolomieu and Franche Terre to be acquired as fully crewed and operational vessels.
French tropical tuna vessel operator CFTO has been part of P&P since 2016.
The discussion project has been approved by the boards of both Sapmer and P&P Thon, with the stated aims of ensuring the continuity of
French tuna fishing activities and crew employment.
This transfer would mark a complete departure for Sapmer from the tropical tuna business, leaving it with its activities fishing for Patagonian toothfish and rock lobster in South Pacific and Anterctic waters.
