A crabbing vessel with capacity to switch to longlining has been launched at Vostochnaya Verf in Vladivostok for fishing company Phoenix JSC, part of the Okeanrybflot group.
The 63.27-metre, 10.60-metre breadth Lamut has been built under the investment quotas programme and is the eleventh in this series of newbuilds. It will operate alongside sister vessel Itelmen.
Intended to deliver live catches, Lamut has a 257 cubic metre vivier capacity and is designed to operate under the challenging conditions of the Bering Sea and the Sea of Okhotsk, including in ice up to 50cm thick.
It has a 1618kW main engine delivering a 14-knot service speed, and accommodation is for a crew of up to 21.
The new vessel’s name is derived from the indigenous people of Kamchatka.
