FCF has been awarded funding from the Marine Stewardship Councils (MSC) Ocean Stewardship Fund. This critical support will directly contribute to advancing sustainability initiatives in the South Atlantic Albacore Longline Fishery (SAALB), reinforcing FCF’s commitment to responsible fisheries conservation and management.
‘We are extremely honored that the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) has provided us, along with our industry and NGO partners this invaluable opportunity, granting support in our journey toward fishery sustainability,’ said FCF executive VP Arthur Yeh.
‘This funding is particularly crucial as it directly supports our efforts in the South Atlantic Albacore Longline Fishery (SAALB), for the development and implementation of a management procedure further enabling us to enhance stock assessments, improve traceability, and develop a scientifically robust and reliable harvest strategy.’
The MSC Ocean Stewardship Fund (OSF) plays a role in driving industry-wide improvements, benefiting not just individual companies but entire fisheries and supply chains. Through this initiative, Taiwanese company FCF has collaborated with fisheries partners operating in the same waters, fostering sustainability across social, environmental, and economic pillars.
‘This grant not only benefits a single entity but strengthens an entire network of fisheries, driving industry-wide improvements,’ Arthur Yeh added.
‘Achieving sustainable fisheries is not a responsibility that fishers can bear alone—it requires collective efforts from scientists, policymakers, and industry stakeholders. This is a unique opportunity where the interests of all including our NGO partners align to the benefit of all and the resource. By working together and aligning with MSCs globally recognized standards, we can ensure the long-term viability of marine resources and responsible fisheries management.’
