European funding has been earmarked by the Region of Brittany to support new entrants to the fishing industry in acquiring their own boats.
Support is being made available for qualified persons aged under 40 to acquire a first fishing vessel. Funding comes from the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) and is administered by the Britttany Region.
This is available for complete or partial acquisition of a second-hand fishing vessel and its future registration must be in Brittany.
Funding is capped at €75,000 for vessels under 12 metere, and €100,000 for vessels of 12 metres and over.
