Spanish tuna company Ablacora has celebrated its fiftieth anniversary by adding to its fleet. The 2200 cubic metre tuna seiner Beti Aurerra will operate in the Indian Ocean under the Seychelles flag.
Formerly Playa de Aritzatzu, the 84.50-metre, 13.90-metre breadth Beti Aurerra was built by Astilleros de Murueta in 2002. It has a freezing capacity of approximately 300 tonnes per day and is powered by a 6700hp Wärtsilä main engine. It is well outfitted with the latest electronic systems for tuna fisheries and is a welcome addition to the Albacora fleet of 22 vessels operating across three oceans.
The sale of Beti Aurerra has been handled by Spanish shipbroker Albino Moran.
‘The name is no coincidence,’ an Albacora representative commented.
‘Beti Aurerra – always forward – is a tribute to the legacy of our founder, Iñaki Latxaga, and to the forward-looking vision that has guided us for five decades.’
