The Zamakona Shipyard in northern Spain has been contracted to build a new pelagic vessel for Shetland owners.
The new Adenia’s construction will commence soon and the new vessel is scheduled to be delivered in mid-2019.
Salt Ship Design in Norway have produced the designs for the new 70 by 15.60 metre Adenia which will have a tank capacity of just over 2000 cubic metres and a 7000hp main engine.
The newbuild replaces the present Adenia, which will go to its new owners in Norway early next year.
The current Adenia was built at the Flekkefjord Slipp & Maskinfabrikk yard in Norway in 2003 and was extensively refitted in 2015 by Karstensens in Skagen, which included a spell at a yard in Poland where the pelagic vessel was lengthened by 8 metres, taking it to 70.30 metres and increasing its carrying capacity from 1450 to 2000 cubic metres.
Adenia has been sold to Fosnavåg Havfiske in Norway.
