The Federal Agency for Fisheries considers it essential that fishing vessel crews are vaccinated against Covid-19.
During an official visit to the Murmansk region, Agency head Ilya Shestakov stated that this would not only ensure the health of fishing crews, but would also reduce the risks to Russian seafood exports.
‘We are looking to businesses to vaccinate their crews. Unfortunately, infections continue to be recorded on board fishing vessels,’ he said, commenting that control measures need to be ramped up to comply with hygiene requirements.
‘We are looking forward to seeing more active control measures from the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) to monitor fishing crews.
‘Currently, the Chinese authorities are tightening the requirements for the supply of seafood products, including transit through Korea,’ Ilya Shestakov said.
‘The issue of vaccinating entire crews will allow problems of exporting products to be solved.’
