Two shipyards specialising in coastal vessels are collaborating to meet the growing demand for energy efficiency and innovation in Norway’s fishing sector.
Long-established Viknaslipen has a long track record of delivering fishing vessels for the coastal fleet, and has the capacity to build vessels ranging from 10 to 28 metres at its own yard.
Moen Marin is a leading supplier of work and service vessels to the aquaculture industry, and in recent years has standardised its production to low- and zero-emission offerings for this market sector.
The two vessel builders both have close ties to Marin Design, which is also part of the collaboration.
‘We look forward to applying from the expertise we have gained through our position in the aquaculture industry to the coastal fishing fleet, and are pleased to be able to offer first-class vessels and strengthen our presence within the fisheries sector,’ said Moen Marin’s sales manager Robin Johansen.
