A pair of pelagic freezer trawlers have been acquired by the growing Rawanq fleet in Oman, and underwent a comprehensive dry dock programme before starting work for their new owners.

The two 120-metre Moonsund-class trawlers were built in 1989 at Volkswerft in Stralsund and have until recently been operated by Baltlanta under the Lithuanian flag.
Ieva Simonaityte is now Al Tidra and Simonas Daukantas is renamed Al Asifa, as they join another Moonsund trawler, Al Rahma, which was acquired by Rawanq in 2021.
Both trawlers have been through a comprehensive overhaul in Las Palmas ahead of steaming to Nouadhibou to be taken into service by the new owners. The time spent at the yard in Las Palmas covered maintenance and technical preparation for reflagging to the Sultanate of Oman. Both trawlers were also repainted in Rawanq’s blue livery.
According to Rawanq, the two trawlers had been carefully maintained over many years of service by the previous owners so they join the company fleet in excellent condition. Almost all crew members of both vessels have chosen to continue under the new ownership.
