Lerøy Seafood Group joins GSSI

Lerøy Seafood Group has joined the Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative (GSSI) as a funding partner.

A world-leading seafood corporation operating fishing vessels and fish farms along the coast of Norway, Lerøy Seafood Group has production and packaging facilities and sales offices around the globe.

As part of their active commitment to sustainability, from fjord to table, Lerøy works with GSSI-recognised schemes ASC, MSC, and GLOBALG.A.P.

‘Lerøy’s vision is to be the most profitable global supplier of sustainable high-quality seafood. We believe the competence GSSI can provide will help us in achieving our high goals,’ said Anne Hilde Midttveit, Head of Sustainability and Quality at the Lerøy Seafood Group, which has a history going back to 1899.

The Group’s core business is the production of salmon and trout, whitefish, processing, product development, marketing, sale and distribution of seafood.

Every day 4500 staff contribute to delivering seafood corresponding to five million meals to shops, restaurants, canteens and hotels.

Lerøy Seafood Group has an extensive range of sustainable, healthy products served on tables in more than 80 different countries. Its main office is located in Bergen, but they have fishing vessels and fish farms in operation along the entire coast of Norway. Production and packaging plants are located in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Turkey, as well as sales offices in the USA, Japan and China.
