The Spanish authorities have handed out fines totalling five million Euros to six companies and six individuals investigated under Operation Sparrow 2.

According to Low Impact Fishers of Europe (LIFE), Spain has once again turned its back on historic injustices by denying small scale Mediterranean fishermen access to bluefin tuna.

According to reports in the Spanish press, the case against Vidal Armadores, the beneficial owners of a fleet of vessels operating at various times fishing for toothfish in the Southern Ocean collapsed on a point of law.

They affirmed that they will now focus on getting their voices heard in Madrid, to call for the injustices of recent years to be ended.
