A 2200 cubic metre capacity well boat to operate in Eastern Canada has been ordered by Intership, which has already struck a long-term contract with Mowi for its operation.
Due to be delivered in the first quarter of 2022, the NSK-designed well boat is to be built by Zamakona at Bilbao in Spain to the latest standards in fish transport and handling.
Designed to ensure optimum fish health and to minimise chances of disease spreading, the vessel will be equipped with a fully integrated reverse osmosis system and a large production capacity relative to its well volume.
Intership has operated freshwater treatments with vessel-produced freshwater on board the Inter Caledonia since 2016, and this new vessel will become the company’s second vessel with a freshwater treatment system.
‘It is with great pleasure that we announce this news. We are delighted to add a newbuild to our fleet and furthermore renew our confidence with our long-standing customer Mowi,’ said Intership CEO Ole Peter Brandal.
‘When the vessel is delivered we will have two well boats operating on the east coast of Canada, both for the same customer.’
