On March the 8th 2018, The International Association for Women in the Seafood Industry (WSI), with the support of French Development Agency AFD and Icelandic R&D company Matís has launched its second Women in Seafood video competition.
This competition will reward the best video to highlight the contribution of women in the seafood industry, with winners to be announced in September this year.
‘One in two seafood worker is a woman,’ said WSI’s Marie Christine Monfort.
‘Women are essential contributors to the industry but remain often ignored thus invisible. And if you are not seen you do not exist.’
In compliance with its objective to raise awareness on the contribution of women in the seafood industry and to promote young female professionals, the International Association for Women in the Seafood Industry (WSI) is launching the second the Women in Seafood video competition, with the support of MATIS and the French Development Agency (AFD).
Individuals, women and men, collectives and institutions, schools are invited to send short videos (less than 4 minutes) describing the life of woman in any segment of the seafood industry (fishing, seafood farming, processing, trading, managing and all related activities, including teaching/ training).
The two categories are for women under 25 and over 25 years old, and the two winners will each receive a €1000 prize.
The 2017 winner was Carmen Pedroza Gutiérrez with her film The Women of Petatan.
The contest closes on August the 31st, with the winners announced in late September 2018.
