The MEST shipyard in the Faroe Islands has started 2025 by being busy with fishing vessels from Greenland, at both its Skála and Tórshavn locations.
Royal Greenland’s pelagic vessel Tasiilaq has been dry-docked at Skála for classification work, for its bow and stern thrusters to be fully overhauled and for further maintenance to be carried out. The 84-metre Tasiilaq is due to sail in the coming few days.
The 70-metre Tuneq has also arrived at MEST for several weeks’ of maintenance work to be carried out at the quayside.
The Skála yard has dry-docked Polar Seafood’s 88-metre Polar Princess for initial work to be done before being refloated. The factory vessel was then towed from Skála to Tórshavn for the remaining work to be completed, and is ready to sail in the next few days.
