JP Verwijs Import Export has introduced an innovative organic compostable packaging for its frozen seafood products.
This has been inspired by the increasing moves towards a circular economy business model that reflects the highest standards of sustainability, transparency, simplicity and quality.
‘Taking care of nature is paramount, so the emphasis is on taking responsibility to reduce traditional packaging materials,’ a spokesman for the company said.
This introduction of compostable packaging makes a significant contribution to the reduction of plastic waste
The innovative packaging material is derived from agricultural waste products and it is in full compliance with EFSA and FDA legislation.
The aim of JP Verwijs in this development is to convert agricultural waste into biodegradable packaging to replace old-style plastics, and to make a significant reduction to the CO2 footprint.
The biodegradable and compostable features of this packaging material are in full compliance with EN 13432 / 14995 standards.
