Some of the highest prices for whitefish for this year were secured at Peterhead Harbour Fish Market, Scotland’s premier fishing port. at the beginning of last week July 25-26.
Haddock made £160-£171 per 57kg box and Whiting made £114-£143 per 57kg box.
The first market day of the week Monday July 25 saw Eleven trawlers land a total of 4725 boxes of white fish which sold at the market for the following prices Large Cod £3.00-£4.00, Medium £3.00-£3.80, Haddock Large £2.50-£2.80, Medium £2.30-£2.50, Metros £1.10-£1.50, Whiting £1.70-£2.50, Round Whiting £1.50-£2.00, Lemon Sole £2.50-£6.00, Coley £1.10-£1.50, Monkfish £3.10-£4.00, Megrims £3.20-£6.00, Plaice 65p-£1.70, Hake £1.00-£2.00, Witches £1.00-£2.00, Ling £1.70, Squid £6.50-£7.25.
Trawlers Landed Celestial Dawn, Amity, Crystal River, Faithful, Fear Not, Acorn, Shalimar, Artemis, Valhalla, Ocean Venture, Heather Sprig.
The next day’s market Tuesday saw Two trawlers land a total of 1332 boxes of whitefish which sold at market for the following prices Cod Large £3.30-£4.00, Medium £3.20-£3.40, No Large Haddock, Haddock Medium £2.80, Metros £1.60-£2.10, Whiting £2.00-£2.50, Round Whiting £1.75, No Lemon Sole, Monkfish £3.65-£4.45, Coley £1.35-£1.60, Megrims £2.40-£6.00, No Plaice, No Witches, Hake £2.10-£2.80 and Ling £1.50-£2.40.

On The next day’s market Wednesday saw Seven trawlers land a total of 2773 boxes of whitefish which sold at Large Cod £3.40-£4.00, Medium £3.00-£3.50, No Large Haddock, Haddock Medium £3.00, No Metros, Whiting £1.80-£2.50, Round Whiting £1.80-£2.50, Lemon Sole £3.30-£5.70, No Monkfish, Coley £1.50-£1.55, Megrims £5.00-£6.50, Plaice £1.00-£2.30, Hake £1.80-£2.00, No Witches, Ling £1.90, Squid £4.30-£7.50.
Trawlers Landed Fisher Boys, Aalshere, Budding Rose, Transcend, Lapwing, Attain and Castlewood.
The following day’s market Thursday saw Seven trawlers land a total of 2189 boxes of whitefish which sold at the following prices Large Cod £3.00-£4.00, Medium £3.00-£3.50, No Large Haddock, No Medium Haddock, Metros £1.40-£1.50, Whiting £2.20, Round Whiting £1.70-£2.00, No Lemon Sole, Monkfish £5.00-£5.15, No Coley, Megrims £3.00-£8.00, Plaice 80p-££1.50, Hake £1.50-£2.00, Witches £1.00-£1.50, No Ling, Squid £6.20-£7.70.

The last market of the week Friday saw Twelve trawlers land a total of 5748 boxes of whitefish which sold at market for the following prices Large Cod £3.00-£4.00, Medium £3.00-£3.50, Haddock Large £2.30-£2.80, Medium £1.70-£2.60, Metros £1.00-£1.50, Whiting £1.40-£2.00, Round Whiting £1.00-£1.80, Lemon Sole £1.50-£5.70, Monkfish £4.00-£5.40, Coley 90p-£1.30, No Megrims, Plaice 65p-£2.00, Hake £1.20-£2.00, No Witches, Ling £1.20-£1.90, Squid £2.00-£6.90.
Trawlers Landed Boy John, Rosebloom, Renown, Ocean Harvest, Ocean Venture, Harvester, Starlight Rays, Starlight, Content, Favonius castlewood and Attain.
At Peterhead Harbour there were landings from 39 trawlers over the week for total landing of 16,767 boxes of white fish. There was also one Pelagic landing.
At Fraserburgh Harbour there were landings from 55 trawlers over the week totalling 1,665 boxes of whitefish.
At Ullapool Harbour it was a quite week with only two Spanish liner/netters landing 39 tonnes of mixes whitefish. The local fleet were reported to be fishing well.
At Scrabster Harbour there were landings from Eleven trawlers with a total of 3681 boxes of whitefish landed.
At Buckie Harbour there were landings from Five trawlers with a total of 277 boxes of whitefish, prawns and squid plus 65 bags of clams.
At Pittenweem Harbour there were good landings of prawns from the local prawn fishing fleet which made good prices at the local fish market.
At St Monans, Crail, And Anstruther Harbours there were the usual landings of lobster and crabs from the local shell fish boats.
Prawns caught and landed by the Pittenweem prawn boats are being sold and sent to Paris.
