Hue Fisheries, a main producer of prawns from Vietnam, under the Fideco market brand, is launching its Friend of the Sea certified Pacific Whiteleg Shrimp into the Japanese and European market. The farm was audited by an international certification body and was found to be compliant with Friend of the Sea strict sustainability requirements. The farming sites were found to be managing their potential environmental impacts properly, monitoring water parameters, preventing impact on surrounding ecosystem, managing water, waste and energy appropriately.
Hue Fisheries, with 600 employees, produces also squid, cuttlefish and octopus. “We believe the Friend of the Sea label, recognizing our clean sustainable production, can represent an important added value” comments Mr Phan Xuan Trang, Chairman of Fideco. “We wish also to distinguish from other producers which might not implement such high environmental standards”.
