Currently taking shape at Skála in the Faroe Islands, construction of the MEST Shipyard’s new dry dock at Skála is making strong progress and is on track to be taken into use in October this year.

This is a major infrastructure initiative for the Faroe Islands and is set to provide a significant boost to MEST’s service capacity when the new dock becomes operational in October. Located within the Faroe Islands’ longest fjord, the facility benefits from a minimal tidal range, ensuring stable and efficient operations regardless of the tide.
‘MEST Shipyard is committed to this investment in a this modern dry dock, which will allow us to offer our customers in the Faroe Islands and neighboring countries even greater efficiency and higher quality than ever before,’ the yard’s CEO said Mouritz Mohr, CEO.
‘The project is progressing exactly as planned. We are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the first vessels in the new dock this October.’

The existing dock measures 115 by 20 metres, with a 6.5-metre draft. In comparison, the expanded dock facility will have a 150-metre length, with a 33-metre breadth and an 11.50-metre draft.
‘MEST will be able to offer access to two specialised dry docks in Skála to accommodate a wider range of international and local vessels,’ commented MEST Shipyard’s Head of Sales and Procurement Richard Mortensen.
‘We have been actively building relationships with various companies in Scotland and Ireland, and we are proud of the connections we are establishing there. Shipowners are increasingly choosing MEST Shipyard in the Faroe Islands, recognising the benefits of our location, comprehensive expertise, and excellent logistics. We invite you to visit us and explore how MEST and our new drydock can meet your needs,’ he said.
MEST Shipyard will be exhibiting at the Scottish Skipper Expo in Aberdeen this year, aiming to build relationships with its overseas customers.
