The Iceland Ocean Cluster has entered into a new collaboration Geo Salmo, with the agreement signed by Geo Salmo CEO Jens Thórðarson and Thór Sigfússon the founder of the Iceland Ocean Cluster.
Geo Salmo is a new sustainable land-based salmon farm located in southern Iceland which aims to use 100% renewable energy for its operations.
Aquaculture is a growing sector internationally and in Iceland and there is now a huge opportunity to apply the lessons learned already in the 100% fish experience in Iceland, according to Thór Sigfússon.
‘This collaboration is a great step in working towards full utilisation of products and co-products from land-based salmon aquaculture and very welcome news for the Icelandic innovation sector,’ he said.
