The fourth in a series of Skipsteknisk-designed trawlers for owners in Greenland has been launched for outfitting by Astilleros de Murueta in Spain.

The yard has already built filleter Sisimiut and shrimp trawler Avataq for Royal Greenland, as well as the recently delivered Nataarnaq for Royal Greenland partner company Ice Trawl Greenland.

The latest launch is the 82.30 metre Tuugaalik, built to the same design, for another Royal Greenland partner, Qaleralik AS.

Like Avataq and Nataarnaq, Tuugaalik is designed to operate on shrimp and Greenland halibut, and is being built to exceptionally high standards of crew safety and comfort to be able to operate year-round under challenging conditions.

Like the previous vessels in the series, Tuugaalik will have a package of Seaonics deck equipment, including four permanent magnet trawl winches controlled by a Seaonics Scantrol system for triple-rig trawling, and a Carsoe factory deck for shrimp and H&G Greenland halibut.

According to a spokesman for the yard, Astilleros de Murueta aims to establish itself as a leader in building factory trawlers.

Tuugaalik is scheduled to be delivered to Qaleralik AS in 2023.
