Sydney Fish Market (SFM) has been running on the KOSMOS digital auction system supplied by Aucxis since this summer, preceded by an intensive period of testing and optimisation.
With this switch, SFM has gone to a modular and user-friendly platform that enables real-time auctions for both local and remote buyers. The software integrates seamlessly with the auction’s complex logistics processes and supports the entire sales flow – from landing to settlement.
‘It wasn’t always smooth sailing,’ said Aucxis acccount manager Steff Lyssens.

‘But through persistent collaboration and open communication, we reached a major milestone together: KOSMOS is running smoothly, and the client is satisfied – that’s what matters most.’
During the go-live week, staff from Aucxis were on site in Sydney to support the SFM team with final validations, user guidance, and the launch of live auctions. At the same time, the technical team in Belgium provided continuous remote support, which proved crucial for a flawless rollout.
The successful implementation of the new auction system comes at a perfect time, as Sydney Fish Market makes the move to a brand-new auction centre early in the new year, accommodating more than 200 simultaneous buyers and provide a scalable infrastructure with further back-office integrations.
Aucxis is again provide on-site support to guide the migration both in both technical and operational terms ahead of the new auction building’s grand opening on 19th January.
‘SFM has proven to be not just a client, but a true partner. Together, we’re building the digital future of the fish auction,’ Steff Lyssens said.
