The Irish fishing community is set to benefit as Skipper Expo Int. Galway creates a new record with 117 companies now confirmed as exhibiting.

Stand space for the popular expo sold out in record time and there will be more than twenty first time exhibitors at the show, ensuring plenty to interest visitors. Exhibiting companies hail from Ireland, Denmark, Faroe Islands, France, Holland, Iceland, Poland, the UK, Spain and the USA.

‘The demand for stands has been phenomenal and we have pulled out all the stops to accommodate the requirements of exhibitors, including making extra space available,’ said show organiser Sharon Boyle.

The opening hours on the first day have also been extended by an hour (10am to 6pm) so as to provide greater flexibility for visitors and enable more time to tour the stands.

One of the highlights of the expo will be the free buffet with music on Friday 4 March, serving superb Irish seafood and wine. The buffet will now be served in the main restaurant which will allow everyone more space and seating to ensure an enjoyable evening. Doors open for this event at 6.30pm.

‘These nights have become an integral part of our shows and could not succeed without our kind sponsors,’ she added.

Another star attraction will be the Outside Boatmart, which will feature a display of vessels and marine engines, as well as the Coastguard Unit and BIM Coastal Training Unit.

Also certain to prove popular will be the pool demonstrations – a unique element of the Galway expo. Led by the RNLI with assistance from BIM, various floatation devices from exhibiting companies will be demonstrated in the pool.

Skipper Expo Int. Galway 2016 is held on the 4th and 5th of March at the Galway Bay Hotel, Galway. Opening times, 10am to 6pm on Friday 4 March, and 10am to 4pm on Saturday 5 March. Entry is free.
