ANIFPO and Sea Source launch a new whitefish sales division on Monday 1st of February.
The new venture aims to buy and sell all species as prices have suffered following a consolidation in recent years among fish buyers in the County Down region of Northern Ireland.
The Sea Source initiative is intended to introduce more competition to the market while also lifting prices paid to fishermen for their catches, selling fish across Ireland and augmenting landings by local trawlers to bring more buyers to Co Down.
Sea Source is head by Ken Kennedy, who brings 35 years of seafood sales experience with him.
The venture is owned by Co Down fishermen and from the outset the project creates three new full-time jobs.
