Scanmar has appointed well known ex-fisherman George Youngson to the role of the company’s Global Sales Manager.
With many years experience in the marine electronics sector, previously as sales manager of Seatronics and, in more recent years, as managing director of Scanmar UK, based in Scotland, George’s strong reputation amongst fishermen and his vast contacts list in the international fishing industry made his selection for the position an easy decision, said Scanmar managing dicector Ulf Lundvall.
’Our headquarters are based at Tonsberg in Norway but the formation of Scanmar UK Ltd. in Peterhead in the past few years has provided us with a vital lifeline to our many customers in the UK and Republic of Ireland,’ he said
’Since George joined our company with the establishment of Scanmar in Peterhead, we have not only retained our existing customer base but we have seen great growth, largely due to the hard work of George, his son Liam and the rest of the team at Scanmar UK,’ Ulf Lundvall said.
’We are always very keen to bring the latest in trawl sensor technology to skippers and vessel owners and George has played a big part in that strategy – and I have every confidence in his ability to now bring this message to the international industry.’
