Frøy is strengthening its fleet with three new service vessels to be delivered by the Rainbow Nantong Shipyard in China. Long-term contracts with two of Norway’s largest aquaculture companies have already been secured for two of the vessels.
These vessels represent the next generation of service vessels and will strengthen Frøy’s capacity to meet the future needs of the aquaculture industry.

We are experiencing strong demand for modern service vessels, and have great faith in the long-term need for this type of capacity in the aquaculture industry. The fact that two of the vessels have already been placed on long-term contracts with leading players in the industry provides a good foundation for the project and confirms that the vessel concept meets the needs of customers,’ said CEO Tonje Foss.

The vessels have been developed based on Frøy’s extensive experience from operating service vessels along the entire Norwegian coast.
The concept combines high deck and lifting capacity with a hybrid propulsion solution, battery packs and shore power charging. This results in reduced fuel consumption and lower emissions, while the vessels have increased power reserves and flexibility in operations. They are further equipped with modern bridge technology, extensive camera and surveillance solutions and facilities that facilitate safe and efficient operations.
A significant focus has been placed on the working environment on board. Noise and vibration reduction measures, comfort class of the interior, modern ventilation systems and spacious cabin solutions will contribute to a high level of well-being and a safe working environment for the crew.

The goal has been to develop vessels that combine high capacity with energy-efficient solutions, strong operational reliability and good working conditions for those who will use the vessels every day,’ said project director Kristian Reiten.
These newbuildings not only contribute to strengthening Frøy’s service offering, but also to the further development of maritime expertise and value creation in the region.
