Spanish tech group Satlink has struck an agreement with Amazon Leo for Amazon’s low-Earth orbit satellite network. Satlink becomes an authorised reseller, bringing high-performance satellite internet to maritime customers.
The agreement brings together Amazon’s next-generation satellite technology with Satlink’s expertise in delivering satellite access for demanding maritime environments, enabling reliable connectivity for maritime customers operating in offshore and remote maritime environments. With 24×7 support capabilities, Satlink designs and deploys connectivity solutions tailored to the operational requirements of each customer and environment, ensuring service availability, operational continuity, data security, and resilience.
Amazon Leo is designed to provide high-speed, low-latency broadband connectivity to customers beyond the reach of traditional networks.
‘This agreement represents an important step in expanding next-generation connectivity solutions for the maritime sector,’ said Satlink’s Head of Satellite Communications David Carmona.
‘By combining Amazon Leo’s advanced low Earth orbit satellite network with Satlink’s expertise, we will help customers access communications used in increasingly digitalised maritime operations.’
Customers will connect to the network using one of several compact, high-performance antennas: Leo Nano, Leo Pro, and Leo Ultra. Leo Ultra is the most powerful model in the line, capable of delivering download speeds of up to 1 Gbps and upload speeds of up to 400 Mbps, capacity that supports demanding enterprise applications.
Satlink aims to offer Amazon Leo as part of its satellite connectivity and advanced maritime technology portfolios, tailored to the sectors it has served across 130 countries worldwide.
‘We are committed to integrating the most advanced technologies available in the market to help our customers operate more efficiently, securely, and competitively,’David Carmona commented.
