Sales of wild-caught fish, shellfish and other seafood passing through Norges Råfisklag last year came to NoK17.8 billion – the highest turnover value the organisation has yet achieved for a single year.
Acccording to a statement by Norges Råfisklag, these figures as of 1st January are not corrected for inflation, and some corrections may yet be made once final settlements for catches landed in 2023 are complete.
The total value of wild-caught cod, haddock, saithe, shellfish and other catch, delivered and traded from more than 5400 Norwegian and foreign fishing vessels in the Norges Råfisklag area, comes to a total of NoK 17.8 billion in 2023, a 3% increase over the previous year’s figures.
Norwegian fishermen accounted for more than NoK15.8 billion of this turnover in 2023. This is an increase of NoK600 million, or 3.9 %, since 2022. Catches delivered by foreign fishing vessels accounted for NoK1.9 billion in 2023, a reduction of just under NoK100 million, or 3.9%, compared to 2022.
2023 is the tenth year in a row with over a million tonnes of fish, shellfish and other catch delivered and traded through Norges Råfisklag, although the quantity compared to the previous year dropped by 4.9%.
