Cod is king as Norwegian landings maintain top values

According to Norges Råfisklag, sales of landed fish in Norway were worth NoK11.40 billion last year, the Norwegian industry’s second highest year ever, and following the record-breaking sales figures of NoK11.50 billion in 2016. Norwegian fishing vessels accounted for NoK9.50 billion of this total, up on last year’s NoK9.10 billion figure.

Capelin at the heart of Iceland-Faroes dispute

Faroese fisheries minister Høgni Hoydal has expressed his surprise at the turn of events that resulted in Iceland suspending access for the Faroese fleet to Icelandic waters, not least at the actions of the Icelandic authorities. He has protested at the decision to rescind the fisheries agreement between the two nations, which he has described as unusual and illegal.

MacGregor acquires Rapp Marine

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has signed an agreement to acquire Rapp Marine Group (RMG) in order to strengthen its offering for the fishery and research vessel sector. MacGregor's existing portfolio includes already various deck handling equipment, such as cranes and booms, but the acquisition of RMG is expected to allow MacGregor is able to offer complete packages with advanced winches and related control systems.
