The Icelandic Group has announced its intention to sell off subsidiary company Ný-Fiskur, based in Sandgerði.
This is reported to be part of a process of streamlining by parent group Enterprise Investment Fund, which owns Icelandic Group. Ný-Fiskur is one of four subsidiaries, and earlier this month the fund announced the sale of its Spanish operation Ibérica to producers in Iceland.
Íslandsbanki is handling the expected sale of Ný-Fiskur which has a staff of 70 and specialises in production of fresh fish for direct export, much of which goes to Belgium and other European countries, with an annual production of around 6000 tonnes.
Ný-Fiskur’s own subsidiary, Útgerðarfélag Sandgerðis, operates longliner Von GK-113 with a quota of approximately 800 cod-equivalent tonnes.
