Plans are in progress to establish a new shipyard in Russia’s Far East Primorsky Krai region, specifically to build fishing vessels.
An agreement on co-operation and implementation in setting up a modern shipyard in the Primorsky region was signed with the Federal Agency for Fisheries, and brings together the Pella Leningrad Shipyard, LLC Antey, the Far East Crab Catchers Association and the ANO development agency.
The plans are being formulated to support the social and economic development of the Primorsky Krai region and to provide resources towards building efficient, technologically advanced crabbers, longliners and trawlers of up to 80 metres.
‘Pella will transfer its technologies and experience of shipbuilding to the Far East. This is exactly what Federal Agency for Fisheries means about the need to develop shipbuilding in the Far East, for fishermen,’ said Antey’s director general Andrey Polomar.
He confirmed that there is strong interest in the structure of investment quotas which are allocated by the state authorities for the construction of new fishing vessels at domestic shipyards in Russia.
