Marport has announced the opening of a new UK office located in Peterhead, which will distribute the full range of Marport catch control and net monitoring products to the UK market.
Leading Marport’s new UK outlet is industry veteran George Youngson who has more than thirty years of experience in the commercial fishing industry, much of it specialising in the field of catch control and fishing gear monitoring electronics.
He spent six years as a commercial fisherman, before moving on to study in electronics, electrical instrumentation & control engineering, and has been involved in this industry sector ever since.
‘We are thrilled to welcome George to the team, and to have his proficiency spearheading Marport’s latest offices in the United Kingdom,’ said Marport’s Óskar Axelsson.
Marport was established in 1997 to develop acoustic monitoring systems for the deep sea commercial fishing fleet and has been a leading innovator in sensor systems in that sector ever since. Marport is a subsidiary of the Airmar Technology Corporation.
