According to Hilary Benn these positions are either 3 or 4 years staring from February 1 2010. The MMO’s new Chief Executive, Steven Gant, also takes up his appointment from today. Chris Parry, Chair of the MMO, informed that the MMO community is delighted over the appointment of new Chief Executive and Board members, who offer a wide range of expertise and experience across all walks of life.
MMO is looking forward to employing their talents in the final stages of the establishment of the organistion and in taking it forward. The name of the newly board members are Rodney Anderson; Richard Birmingham; Robert James; Derek Langslow
Jeremy Loyd; Nigel Reader; Jane Ryder; Jayne Scott.
It is true that MMO is the new Non-Departmental Public Body established under the Marine and Coastal Access Act as the UK Government’s principal delivery body in the marine area. The main purpose of its launch is to introduce an integrated approach to the planning, licensing and regulation of our seas, and it is anticipated that the MMO will formally vest on 1 April 2010.
