The 40.90-metre lobster catcher under construction at the Hvide Sande Shipyard in Denmark has been christened at the yard, during an event attended by representatives of Clearwater Seafoods LP and Membertou First Nation from Canada.
The hull was delivered to the yard earlier this year for outfitting and is expected to be completed for delivery in the early part of 2027 as the yard’s newbuild no160.
The new vessel’s Kluskapeulk name was unveiled at the ceremony at the yard.
It is designed to handle lobster pots through a moonpool, which provides a safe and stable way to retrieve fishing gear, sheltered from conditions on deck, making the job both easier and safer for the crew.
Accommodation is designed for a crew of up to 19 and Kluskapeulk will be equipped with three RSW tanks to keep catches alive and in peak condition.
