HB Grandi has sold pelagic vessel Lundey to Norwegian company Partrediet Karolös ANS, based in Bekkjarvik.
According to HB Grandi’s CEO Vilhjálmur Vilhjálmsson, the buyer has been granted a licence by the Norwegian authorities for experimental fishing on species such as pearlside, which the Icelandic fleet also targeted for a while, and it will be used for this type of fishing.
Lundey has already sailed from Iceland under its new name of Mokstein.
It was built at Rendsburg in Germany in 1960 and was originally side trawler Narfi. It has been extensively rebuilt over the years, having been lengthened, lifted, re-engined and converted several times in a long career. It has a length between perpendiculars of 62.95 metres, a 10.40 metre beam and measures 836gt. Lundey has been laid up since the autumn of 2015 when new pelagic vessel Venus was delivered.
Prior to coming into HB Grandi’s ownership it sailed as Guðrún Þorkelsdóttir and was operated from Eskifjörður.
