The first of three new trawler/seine netters for Boulogne has been launched by Dieppe yard Manche Industrie Marine (MIM).
The completed hull of the Rose Cascia has been towed to the Padmos yard at Stellendam in Holland for fitting out and is one of three for Boulogne skippers under the Scopale venture. The three boats each have an overall length of 19.20 metres and a beam of 7.50 metres, and are being built at a cost of €2.50 million.
The boats designed to fish short trips of around two days, alternating demersal and pelagic trawling and seine netting according to conditions and circumstances, as well as being able to switch to scalloping during the winter season.
Two more hulls are due to be delivered to MIM in April and June, both of which will also be completed at Padmos in Holland.
