Vard has contract to build a new 80 metre LOA by 17 metre breadth trawler for Nergård Havfiske AS, based in the north of Norway. The hull will be built at Vard Braila in Romania and the new trawler delivered by Vard Brattvaag early in 2020.
The delivery of a new coastal fishing vessel being built at Vestværft for owners in Norway has been put back from September this year to May 2019 due to an angry exchange of correspondence concerning the new vessel’s cargo volume.
ICES has recommended that the cod quota in the Barents Sea should not exceed 674,678 tonnes next year. This is a reduction of 100,000 tonnes in relation to this year’s quota. Marit Hamre has been elected the new chairman of pelagic fishing association Pelagisk Forening. She is the general manager of the Krossfjord fishing company based at Steinsland in the Fjell municipality near Bergen and which operates pelagic vessel Krossfjord.
Norwegian specialist supplier Optimar intends to use its extensive expertise in fisheries and aquaculture to develop processing solutions that exploit marine resources even more effectively than today.
