The second in a series of innovative trawlers for Russian fishing giant Norebo has completed sea trials. The planned series of ten trawlers feature the distinctive Enduro Bow arrangement, the hallmark of design company Nautic Rus.
Kapitan Geller was ordered by Norebo subsidiary Rybprominvest, with the keel laid back in 2019 and the hull floated off for outfitting in 2021 at the Northern Shipyard in Saint Petersburg.
Trials have been carried out in the Baltic to assess the 6200kW trawler’s primary systems, before it heads north to join sister trawler Kapitan Sokolov, which was delivered earlier this year.
These 81.60-metre, 16-metre breadth factory trawlers are designed to provide a stable operating platform with capacity to process around 150 tonnes of demersal catches per 24 hours and to generate 100 tonnes of frozen production. The Enduro Bow design increases the space available in the forward section, pierces waves, and reduces icing, making operation safer and more comfortable under difficult conditions.
