Current negative COVID-19 developments and government measures both in the Netherlands and other countries have convinced the board of Stichting Visserijdagen Urk, the organiser of Holland Fisheries Event, to cancel the 11th exhibition.
Key factors in taking this decision to cancel the exhibition, which had been due to take place on the 2nd and 3rd of October, were the uncertainty regarding the developments around COVID-19 and the measures that the national and international governments may take, in addition to current restrictive measures.
‘Despite all the precautions, in the end it just proved too difficult to guarantee that we could organise a successful event in a safe environment,’ said Klaas-Jelle Koffeman, chairman of Stichting Visserijdagen Urk.
The board has been in close contact with the most important stakeholders about the decision; the municipality of Urk, main sponsor Flynth advisers and accountants, main media partner Visserijnieuws and the exhibition location De Koningshof.
Reactions have been sympathetic and HFE is now investigating the possibilities that online media can offer in the field of virtual presentations and meetings on the same date. The next Holland Fisheries Event is scheduled to take place in Urk on 7th and 8th October 2022.
