The founder and CEO of Esbjerg-based fishing gear supplier Ocean Marine & Fishing Gear A/S, Henrik Frøslev has passed away at the age of 58, following a battle with cancer.
He had spent his whole working life in the fishing industry, initially as one of the owners of Perfect Trawl Doors, for which he was responsible for sales in Greenland. During his time with Perfect, he was at the heart of numerous sea trials and developments to improve fishing gear performance, and he was a well-liked and respected figure among skippers and deck bosses.
He subsequently headed the fishing gear department of Peter Harbo and was later appointed as general manager of Perfect Fishing Gear, a joint venture between Peter Harbo and Perfect Trawl Doors, supplying a wide range of hardware for the commercial marine industry.
This was followed by the establishment of Ocean Marine & Fishing Gear A/S in Esbjerg, which absorbed the fishing gear division of Certex / Peter Harbo A/S, and Carlsen Net A/S.
The activities of Ocean Marine & Fishing Gear will continue as before.
‘Henrik was a well-known and respected supplier of fishing equipment and has been a part of this industry his entire life,’ said Kristian Barslund Jensen of Ocean Prawns A/S, who also chairs the Ocean Marine & Fishing Gear board.
‘He’s a big loss for the company, but his son Kasper Frøslev will in collaboration with the rest of the family and co-owners ensure the future of Ocean Marine & Fishing Gear.’
