Fraserburgh fisherman Gary Noble has taken delivery of a new Cleopatra 33 potting boat from Icelandic boatbuilder Trefjar.
Golden Dawn FR-8 has already started fishing and is working on prawns. Gary Noble expects to work around a thousand pots a day year-round on prawns and crabs, as well as seasonal fishing for mackerel with a set of DNG jigging machines.
The amidships fishroom is set up with capacity for twelve 380 litre tubs and is fitted with an automated seawater sprinkler system for keeping the catch alive on board to return higher values.
Golden Dawn has an FPT C90 main engine powering a ZF 286IV reduction gearbox.
Electronics on board are from Simrad and Furuno, with an Olex plotter. The autopilot is linked to the hydraulic bowthruster to keep the boat on track at low speeds when hauling gear.
The accommodation includes three full-size bunks and a galley/mess area with a stove, microwave and refrigerator.
